Sunday Sermon | That Person Walks with Jesus! Oct 11.2026

저 사람, 예수와 함께하는 사람이야

Scripture: Acts 4:13–22

Even if a person seems to possess nothing by worldly standards, if he holds onto the single most precious truth, he becomes someone the world cannot overcome. Peter and John stood before the highest authorities of their day as accused men, yet they displayed a spiritual authority that utterly astonished their accusers. Through today's Word, may this be a time to confirm and resolve the true Christian identity we must restore.

1. Being with Jesus Is the Ultimate Qualification (4:13–15)

The members of the Sanhedrin were deeply shocked when they saw Peter and John freely unfolding the Scriptures and boldly proclaiming the gospel. In their eyes, the apostles were merely ordinary, uneducated men who used to throw nets into the Sea of Galilee. Yet Scripture testifies that the source of their boldness came not from human credentials, but from the time they had spent with Jesus. The disciples did not train in a rabbinical academy; they were shaped for three years in the school of Jesus, learning to be transformed into His likeness.

The work of God is never confined to the boundaries of worldly education or status. The Lord first called those who would abide with Him, and only then did He grant them authority to preach and cast out demons. The people around us ought to smell the fragrance of Christ when they see our speech and conduct. A believer who sheds obstinacy and self-will, and is molded instead into the character of Jesus, naturally displays Christ through his life without constantly striving to prove himself.

2. We Must Defeat the Dark Strategy to Silence Our Witness (4:16–18)

Standing beside the apostles was the man who had been unable to walk from birth, now fully healed. Because undeniable evidence stood right before their eyes, the religious leaders found themselves in a bind, unable to deny the miracle itself. They held a closed-door meeting and issued a strict order, threatening them never to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus, desperate to keep the gospel from spreading any further among the people. Even while recognizing the truth, they hardened their hearts to suppress it in order to protect their own power and privilege.

The enemy’s core strategy against believers today is no different. The world does not mind if we believe in Jesus in our hearts, but it seeks to seal our lips whenever we testify to His name in daily life. Satan plants the fear that bringing up Jesus in the workplace or among friends will create awkwardness, turning us into silent Christians. We must examine ourselves to see if we are cowering under this spiritual intimidation, compromising to suit the expectations of the world.

3. We Must Live as Those Who Cannot Help Speaking What We Have Seen and Heard (4:19–22)

Before these threatening authorities, Peter and John stood firm, boldly challenging them to judge whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to human orders rather than to God. While remaining respectful toward civil authorities, whenever a worldly decree directly contradicted God’s command, the apostles chose path of obedience to God without hesitation. Because the Lord commanded us to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth, that Great Commission was non-negotiable. Their confession was not a mere display of human willpower, but a declaration of who they were, welling up from within.

When the grace of the Lord fills our hearts, we reach a state where we simply cannot keep silent about what we have seen and heard. When the love of Jesus Christ—who rescued us from sin and gave us hope in despair—soaks into the very marrow of our bones, it overflows even if the world tries to shut our mouths. You do not need grand theological expertise. Simply share with your neighbors the Lord you have personally encountered and the testimony of salvation He has worked in your life. When believers called as witnesses of the gospel open their lips, the threats of the world lose their power, and the glory of God fills the earth.

The world may dismiss us as ordinary, uneducated people and demand our silence, but it can never suppress the power of Jesus residing within us. Remember that walking with the Lord daily and being transformed into His image serves as the most compelling letter of gospel witness to those around you. Now is the time to shake off fear and shame, opening our lips to proclaim that Jesus Christ is the true Savior. As we unabashedly boast of the Jesus we have seen and heard, God will continue to write His marvelous story of redemption through our lives.
